Found only in Africa, the ostrich is the largest and strongest of living birds attaining a height from crown to foot of about 8 ft. The males are polygamous and travel about with 3 or 4 females. Females lay their yellowish white eggs together in a single large depression in the sand. The eggs weigh 3 lbs each and are incubated by the males at night.
