Developed by R. Murphy, the Wellfleet oyster knife is one of our celebrated trio of New England Shuckers. Designed for comfort and efficiency, while keeping beauty in mind. The hand polished rosewood handle is weighted and contoured to fit perfectly in your hand while the pointed, tough stainless steel blade makes quick work of opening oysters. Handcrafted to meet the high standards of professional shuckers, it is perfect for the occasional shucker as well.

"Shucking takes a little practice and a proper knife. Our favorite, for its pretty brass and rosewood grip and its steady heft in the hand, is the Wellfleet oyster knife by R. Murphy." - The Wall Street Journal
These knives are versatile and work well on most small to medium East, West & Gulf Coast oysters. You will appreciate the quality and workmanship of these “pearls” every time you open an oyster.
About R. Murphy Knives - J & R Murphy was started in 1850 by brothers John & Robert Murphy, originally crafting dental and surgical instruments. As they grew, they began producing knives for industrial and culinary purposes and the brothers parted ways in 1884 when Robert moved to Harvard, Mass. to make cutlery there. To this day, R. Murphy crafts high-end butchering knives, oyster shuckers and more entirely by hand in the U.S.A.. They remain dedicated to using the best materials for their purposes, including recycled plastic as part of their initiative to keep land and sea free from stray plastic.
