About the Translation
The corresponding English meanings are in straightforward, modern English. A great deal of care was taken to translate as precisely as possible while adhering to the proper English grammar rules. Anyone familiar with Qur'anic text and the English language can clearly see the meticulous detail that went into word selection for the sake of clarity. The overall flow, and more importantly correct meanings, are improved upon over previous translations. It is also important to stress that this translation was based solely on authentic Hadiths and reliable Tafseers and was not based on personal opinion or deviant thought.
This translation of the Qur'an has received enthusiastic acclaim for its overall improvement over previous translations. It is extremely beneficial for English-speaking Muslims and fills the gap for a much needed da'wah tool.
The translation was done by Umm Muhammad, assisted by other members of the Saheeh International team. Saheeh International has been working with Abul-Qasim Publications in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, producing their own works and editing manuscripts of other authors. Umm Muhammad authored several books for Abul-Qasim Publications since 1989 and edited many others. Her most popular work is "Realities of Faith," adapted from the writings of early scholars such as Ibn Taymiyyah and Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah. Other titles include "The Path to Prayer," "From the Guidance of Surah Yaa Seen," "A Brief Introduction to Tajweed," "The Prophets Appointed by Allah" and "Cultural Crisis."
She was born in the U.S. in 1940 and embraced Islam in 1974 in Syria after completing intensive courses in Arabic. In 1981 she moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, and currently teaches at an Islamic education center while continuing to evaluate and edit English language material for Abul-Qasim Publications.
